When he was 3 years old, he clung to the railing of a balcony overlooking a tranquil bay in Menorca. A dark shadow suddenly moved its way out of the deep blue toward the beach, alarming the bathers. It was a blue shark. From then on, Lukas Müller spent every free second underwater with mask and snorkel. Soon, the salt water and a deep fascination were burned into his DNA.

With the goal of becoming a shark researcher, Müller successfully completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Ruhr University Bochum and a Master of Science in Marine Resources Management at Wageningen University. Today, Müller, who holds a PhD in marine biology, studies endangered shark and ray species in various regions of the world, and advocates for the expansion of marine protected areas.

Lukas Müller uses his freediving skills for many of his marine conservation and research projects. He was the first German freediver to dive with the infamous great white shark as well as komodo dragons without the protection of a cage. He is passionate about opening the world of sharks and other iconic predators to other like-minded ocean lovers. Therefore, the experienced freediving instructor and expedition guide invites passionate freedivers to join his adventures in the field.

Lukas Müller coaches his freediving students from their very first dive to adventurous encounters with sharks in the Bahamas or even orcas in the Arctic, always on a single breath of air. In his coachings, he focuses on 3-dimensional spatial awareness, free falling techniques, and all skills which allow freedivers to safely enjoy the underwater world in any body of water without crossing their limits. Furthermore, Lukas uses his joy of storytelling as an experienced speaker to inspire audiences in business, media, and educational institutions for a healthy ocean.

His motto is: "A life underwater is a life worth living!"
