In 2009, Doris decided to become a professional Instructor, and then she discovered the sport of freediving. Because she was making fast progress, a year later she became a Freediving Instructor and part of the German National Freediving Team.

Doris has set a few records and participarted in 3 Freediving World Championships as well as many local freediving competitions.

Since 2011, Doris has been an SSI, AIDA & CMAS Instructor-Trainer for freediving and scuba diving.

Because freediving is her profession and passion, she now runs courses and accompanies divers on freediving trips all over the world.

“I am particularly fascinated by freediving, because it makes you relax. On the one hand, you have to be completely relaxed and at the same time very focused in order to deliver a great performance. It has something of meditation about it. After a freediving session, I always get out of the water completely relaxed.”

“With Mares as my equipment partner, I particularly appreciate that a full range of not only scuba diving, but also freediving equipment is offered, and it is constantly being developed. Suggestions from us professional freedivers are included in product development. Together we want to offer the best equipment to freedivers, at the cutting edge of technology.”
