If you're looking for a great Dry suit/power fin look no further. .. Review by JFowldsJr / (Posted on 8/9/2018)
If you're looking for a great Dry suit/power fin look no further. ..
I'm a dive instructor. I bought the Power Plana's XL as a solution to irritation caused by another set of fins during a Puget Sound dive trip. I wear a size 10 pinnacle Dry suit Boot. The other set of "Jet" fins were miserable to remove (especially during shore dives) and caused leg fatigue. The Mares fins live up to the advertising. Large boot opening - easy on/off w/DS pinnacle boots. I can use w/ a 5mm Bootie as well (solid-no slop). Tested the fins, Awesome power w/o shredding your legs. Don't get me wrong, you still have to be in shape to move these fins, but night and day compared to traditional "JET" fins. Surprisingly maneuverable for a power/tech fin. Std , frog kick, etc all good. Being rubber, the fins are semi-heavy 4.6 lbs each in XL. a bit lighter than the Jets.. These are my new standard for heavy duty fins. Awesome!
Great wreck fins Review by John Chatterton / (Posted on 2/11/2017)
The Power Plana's are comfortable, even on long dives. The blades are long enough for good kick, but not so long as to be a distraction inside the wreck. The rubber straps are awesome and easy to remove even under challenging conditions but be warned, I only get about 8 months out of mine before they need replacing? Regardless, they are incredibly comfortable fins, they have good kick, not too long, and easy to remove on the ladder.
