Xavi Blanco started spearfishing at the young age of 11 when he began to pursue his dream by catching fish in the clear waters of Tossa de Mar during his summer vacation.
At the age of 14, he had his first neoprene wetsuit and, thanks to that, he was able to fish all year round, even in the winter.
Later, he was attracted to competitions, and at the age of 16 he started competing in the Catalonia debutant championships, but it was not until the age of 19 that he made his big competition debut supported by his friend Oscar Hernández.
During his career, he has had to face many challenges, but one of the most relevant was when he started spearfishing in Delta del Ebro, the place where he united his passion and job.
This learning process has driven him to becoming one of the most successful spearfishers in Spain and worldwide after winning the World Championship in Peru in 2014.
Effort, passion and perseverance have been the pillars of his success, which could not have been achieved without the support of his family and Mares.
