Helena Bourdillon grew up in London and was a water baby from the start, spending much of her childhood and teenage years in various swimming pools. She learned to scuba dive aged 12 and enjoyed it for many years but always found it to be a bit noisy and cumbersome. Discovering free diving in 2013, it was love at first dive. She had found a deeper level of peace and tranquility that she wasn’t able to access whilst scuba diving.Shortly after starting to free dive, Helena had to take a year away from depth but returned and in 2015 she was selected to attend the Individual Depth World Championships in Cyprus on the British Team. Despite only doing 2 out of the 3 possible disciplines, she was placed 10th out of 30 women. Her passion is for the depth disciplines, but she uses the pool for training when London based and unable to access deep water.Helena is an SSI Free Diving Instructor and has a healthy passion for Yoga. She relishes both the physical and mental side of free diving and is looking forward to consistently increasing her depths over the coming years.
