BIOGRAPHY

Magnus is a professional writer and photographer, and since 1992 and he has been widely regarded as one of the world’s leading underwater photographers. Officially, Magnus is ranked number 3 in the world ranking system published by underwatercompetition.com. He has received over 30 prestigious international awards including Wildlife Photographer of the Year and European Wildlife Photographer of the Year.

Magnus is a photo journalist specialised in travel, nature, diving, ocean, fresh water and science-related topics, from the equator to the frozen Arctic. He is also an experienced worldwide expedition leader.

His work has been widely published in hundreds of magazines and books over the past 25 years, including leading publications such as National Geographic, GEO, Der Spiegel, El Mundo, El País, Terre Sauvage, The Guardian, Science Illustrated and Shanghai-based The Bund Pictorial.  He is also a writer, and his latest book A Wilder Life was awarded the Pandabook of the Year prize by the WWF. His book Wild Waters of Europe was published by National Geographic in Germany.

As a conservationist, Magnus has earned the Arne Schmitz Conservation Prize. He is also the director and owner of Wild Wonders International which has created the world's largest conservation communication initiative, Wild Wonders of Europe, which has reached over 800 million people, and Wild Wonders of China, with a team of photographers working to reveal China’s amazing natural heritage to the world.

He is also a dive instructor (Master Instructor), photography teacher, workshop leader, editor and lecturer.
