Founder and president of Danishark Elasmobranch Research, Danilo has been carrying out scientific research on cartilaginous fish for the past 20 years. He is a member of GRIS (Gruppo Ricercatori Italiani Squali), the Mediterranean Shark Research Group and an associate researcher for the Civic Aquarium of Milan.
As the director of Danishark, he manages two research projects:
- Hammerhead Schooling Research: A study of large scalloped hammerhead shark groups (Sphyrna lewini) in Sudan and Central America
- Whale Shark Photo-ID: Photo identification of whale sharks in Djibouti
He has written numrous scientific publications regarding Danishark research projects.
To gather data for projects, Danilo organises and leads research trips every year to places of scientific interest (Sudan, Central America etc.) and also teaches in Italy, divulging information regarding his cartilaginous fish research.
He collaborates with many Italian universities, following thesis students and interns involved in gathing data and expeditions.
