12 people have stepped on the moon in the history of mankind, only 6 have descended to 120m deep on a single breath!
Miguel Lozano is a professional Freediver and double Vice World Champion in depth disciplines (Free Immersion and Constant Weight without Fins).
Miguel is currently ranked as the third deepest freediver in history with -122m in Free Immersion, where the World Record is set at -125m. He was also the first Spaniard to reach a depth of 100m in Constant Weight (CWT) and 83m in Constant No Fins (CNF).
Miguel was born in 1979 in Montgat, Barcelona, in a small fishing village on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
It was the sea that marked his life since a young age. Fond of diving, spearfishing and swimming, he continued practising these sea-related disciplines until he discovered freediving, which eventually became his main passion.
With a height of 1.96m and a pulmonary capacity of 10L, it did not take long to adapt to the demanding conditions of this discipline and to live up to its challenges again and again.
In order to acquire experience and to improve his style, he travelled the diving sites of the world, from Australia to South Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, until he ended up living in two of the Freediving Meccas: Dahab (Egypt) and Tenerife (Canary Islands).
Miguel has trained with some of the best freedivers in the world, such as the world record holder and freediving legend Umberto Pelizzari from whom he learnt most of his technique and freediving philosophy.
With Freediving as his ‘modus vivendi’, Miguel Lozano is a Freediving Instructor certified by the four main agencies ( SSI / AIDA / AA / CMAS), which run global freediving training and organise international freediving events and competitions.
Miguel is currently the only SSI and AIDA certified Instructor Trainer from Spain. He is also one of the international instructors for Umberto Pelizzari’s school ‘Apnea Academy’. With a team of professionals he runs 4 Freediving schools in the world: ApneaCanarias in Tenerife and Lanzarote, Dahab Freedivers in Egypt and Freedive Air in Indonesia.
MY INNER WORLD
“Freediving gives me the perfect balance between mind and body. The fusion between man and nature. Feeling clothed by the sea and surrendering to its power.
For over 10 years, I have travelled all over the world in search of those places where man and the sea live in harmony in a sustainable way.
My love and curiosity for the sea has led me to discover some of its secrets, but my passion for animals that inhabit the depths and their interaction with humans will never cease to amaze me.
Freediving has led me to challenge myself, discover the inner fears of the human being and to overcome, once again, my limits.”
