Curious about the divers in the same pool as him during swim practice, Patrik did his first dive in 1977, aged 14. The next dive was in the Maldives in 1989 and it was there that Patrik’s real diving career began - he took his initial certifications and began to take photos and record films under water.

Certified as a Diving Instructor in 1992, and gaining a range of certifications from both PADI and NAUI since, he has certified some 250 students ranging from Open Water to Underwater Photography and Rebreather.

In the early 1990s, Patrik managed a diving center on the Swedish island of Gotland (Gotlands Dykmateriel) and in 1995 he set up his own dive center on the island (Visby Dykcenter) which he ran for five years. He also initiated and managed the Swedish Championship in Treasure Hunting in Diving towards the end of the 1990s.

Patrik also set up a Diving Society which travels annually to diving locations around the world. He has also worked diving in the Philippines and in the Red Sea.

He has produced photos and films from trips in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Malta, Spain (Mallorca), Italy (Sicily), the Red Sea (Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh, Brother Islands, Marsalam, Safaga, Elphinstone), the Dominican Republic, Palau, the Maldives (Ranalli, Reethibeach) and the Philippines (Puerto Gallera, Oslob and Moalboal).

Patrik’s films have been shown on Swedish National Television such as Larmet går (911 Alarm), Kalla fakta (Cold facts) and SOS.

Photos have been published in ‘Dyk’, ‘UVM’, ‘Gotlands folkblad’, ‘Gotland allehanda’, ‘Svenska dagbladet’, ‘Mitt i Stockholm’ and as part of commercials.

In February 2020, Patrik won 3rd prize in the World Shootout photography competition.

He is currently working as a photography teacher and workshop leader all over the world. Find him on Instagram @scubaartfoto.

His page launched in January 2017 and now has over 40,000 followers. Patrik relies on Nikon cameras and lenses, Sea and sea housing and flashes, FIX Light Fix II 3500DX light, Nauticam close up CMC and SMC.

When it comes to diving, he enjoys the support of the global leader Mares and uses Avanti Quattro +/Avanti Superchannel Open Heel fins, a Flexa wetsuit, Loop regulator, a Pure SLS BCD, a Quad computer and X-Vision Liquidskin mask.
